Meet the Team - James

So for our next Meet the Team, we have got... James.

James is the senior software developer here at PalletOnline. In charge of making sure choas doesn't happen online and sorting out any problems that might arise.

Tell me a bit about yourself and what you do at PalletOnline.

I’m the Senior Software Developer. I spend my days making sure things work the way they should, fixing things when they don’t, sorting out servers, and quietly preventing chaos before anyone notices it was about to happen, all while making sure we stay online.

What is it you like to do outside of work?

Mainly recharging after work, spending time with family, and doing small coding projects to keep up to date with the latest tech and development trends.

What was your first job?

A classic “learn responsibility quickly” job where I was paid very little but somehow worked very hard.

What was your favourite school subject?

ICT - mainly because it felt like the future and involved fewer textbooks than most subjects.

What we hear... a passion for technolology starting at a young age.

If you had all the money in the world, where would you go?

Somewhere warm, quiet, and with absolutely zero notifications. No emails, no alerts, no "quick questions", just sun and peace and time to relax.

I think you are onto something there James, it sounds like a dream.

What is your go to sweet treat?

Anything chocolate based. Whether it is bar, biscuits or cake, there is a very good chance I will enjoy it. I just have a big appreciation for all things chocolate.

Now the big question is... are you a Cadbury, Lindt or Galaxy lover?

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Solving problems that everyone said was “impossible” and, most importantly, my children.

What show are you currently watching?

A rotating mix of something serious, something funny, and something I’ve already watched multiple times. This ensures I’m either pretending to be engaged, switching my brain off entirely, or watching something familiar enough that I can miss half of it without feeling lost.

That's a good way to have a balanced system.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

When something almost works but not quite. The kind of problem that looks to be fine to everyone else, but somehow isn't right when I am looking at it.

What is your current obsession?

Optimising things that probably didn’t need optimising in the first place

Wow! We love that mindset. Always trying to find the most optimised way of working.

Well thank you James, we love to hear about our software developers on these Meet the Team blogs

Make sure to watch out for our next edition, to see who we meet next.
