Full Truck Loads Explained

Full Truckload shipping is the perfect choice for low risk, fast and efficient pallet delivery.

info-icon

Full Truck Load shipments are exactly that; a truck full of pallets! These shipments tend to be booked by businesses shipping a significant number of pallets to a single destination.

info-icon

FTL can be used to send anywhere between 11 and 26 pallets to and from any location in UK Mainland, and can be much more cost and time effective than LTL (Less than Truckload) shipping.

info-icon

If you're pressed for time and need a quick shipment for a large number of pallets to a single location, FTL is definitely the way to go.

info-icon

Unlike a Less than truck load service, Full Truckload shipments are an A to B service. This means your goods will be delivered in the same vehicle they're picked up in, and more often than not, your goods will be delivered the same day they're picked up on!

Questions & Answers
Well, a Full Truckload, or FTL for short, is a full truck of pallets (up to 26 full pallets), where all of the pallets on the trailer belong to one customer and are being delivered to a single destination.

FTL shipments can be much more cost-effective for larger shipments consisting of more than 10 pallets.

Same day delivery makes this the perfect option for time-critical shipments, and fewer movements mean a much safer journey for more fragile goods.

Great question! The number of pallets largely depends on the size and stackability of the pallets you're sending. Generally, an FTL shipment consists of between 11 and 26 full pallets, so long as the total weight of all of your pallets does NOT exceed 28 tonnes.
Of course! Your shipment will be automatically insured for up to £1.30 per kg in the rare event of damage or loss. This means that if your shipment weighs 1 tonne (1,000kg) in total, your shipment will be covered for up to £1,300. If you require more coverage than this, we recommend finding insurance externally. Sadly, we aren't able to offer any further coverage at this moment in time for full loads.
Our coverage includes most of the United Kingdom, excluding Northern Ireland and some locations in the Scottish Highlands. We're unable to ship Full Loads overseas at the moment, but this is a service we hope to provide in the future.
This totally depends on the number of pallets you're looking to ship. For shipments of 10 full pallets or less, LTL is the more cost-effective route. However, for larger shipments of 11 to 26 full pallets, FTL is your best option. When you choose FTL, you're not paying per pallet space like you do when you ship LTL. You're paying for the full trailer, so the more pallets you ship, the more cost-effective FTL becomes.
When it comes to the weight of your goods, the limit that our trucks can carry is 28 tonnes, so as long as your goods do not exceed that limit then you should be good to go!

However, if your pallets do exceed the weight limit... Houston, we have a problem!

If your goods weigh over 28 tonnes, we would not be able to transport your goods as the vehicle would be deemed overweight, and it would not be legal to move it.

The best thing to do in this case would be to remove pallets until you're back within that weight limit.

Alternatively, our friendly customer support team are always on hand to get any issues fixed for you in no time. But please make sure that you are accurately weighing your goods before you book your collection and delivery to ensure things run smoothly.

LTL and FTL are short for Less than Truck Load and Full Truck Load.

Less than Truck Load is where you can book up to 10 full pallets, whereas our new Full Loads service allows you to book delivery of between 11 and 26 full pallets.

When you book an LTL service, your goods will be loaded onto a shared trailer. This is a great option for small businesses or consumers wanting to send a smaller amount of pallets.

Our new Full Load service is a better, more cost-effective option for larger businesses that ship a higher volume of freight.

In addition, FTL is an A to B, dedicated service, which means your pallets will be handled much less than LTL and will reach their destination the same day the goods are collected.

Partial Truckload, or PTL for short, is practically the same as LTL shipping, meaning the truck delivering your goods will be shared with multiple customers' pallets.

PTL is where your goods don't take up the whole of the truckload, this alternative is a great way of keeping costs low as the total cost of the delivery is split between all who share the space on the truck.

PTL/LTL is one of the most environmentally-friendly ways of shipping, it can save you money and save on valuable fuel. This is one of the most valued options for smaller businesses.

Well, that is a tough question as it all depends on the distance, size and weight of the goods you are shipping.

For example, you could ship 26 full pallets from Stoke-on-Trent to a location in London, and you could ship the same 26 full pallets from Stoke-on-Trent to a location in Manchester, but the prices would vary massively based on the distance alone!

The only way to get an accurate answer to your question would be by using our instant quoting system at the top of this page.

Simply enter your collection and delivery postcodes, and you'll get your quote back within 30 seconds!

A full truck is exactly that, a truck full of pallets! This can be also known as Full Truckload or FTL for short.

Full truck shipping is a more cost-effective option, mostly chosen by larger companies who ship larger volumes of freight to a single destination. Technically, the more you ship the more you save!

With FTL shipments, our dedicated trailers offer same-day delivery. Plus, because your pallets are the only pallets on the vehicle, your goods don't need to be handled as much as smaller LTL shipments.

Less than Full load is the same as Less than Truck Load or LTL for short.

Less than Full load shipping does not require the full truck to ship your goods, meaning multiple customers' goods can join the ride to fulfil the entirety of the truck, this ensures an environmentally friendly and cost-efficient way of shipping your goods especially if you're a small business.

By using LTL the load space is shared, which results in the total cost of delivery being split between all customers who share the space. The smaller the shipment, the cheaper the rate.
