Meet the Team - Matt
Tuesday 25th October 2022 | View all Blogs

It's everyone's favourite time of the month... that's right, it's Meet the Team time!

In this blog, we'll be delving back into the depths of our web development team to meet Matt, Front End Web Developer here at PalletOnline!

Hi Matt, tell us a bit about yourself and what your role involves here at PalletOnline.

I’m a web developer, which pretty much means I write code all day to help maintain and improve the PalletOnline website, particularly around the checkout system.

Wow, nice! What’s the best thing about working with the other web developers?

The best thing about working with other web developers is being able to work through problems as a team and find solutions that no individual one of us could have done on their own.

And what’s the best and worst thing about coding?

The best thing about coding is not being in the marketing department. Also, being able to think of ideas and turn them into an actual working website is very fun and rewarding.

The worst part about coding is when you have a bug in your code and no matter what you do, you simply cannot find what’s causing the problem.

That's not funny. You should take that back!

What we shouldn't take back, though, is our quick-fire round... lets go!
Describe yourself in one sentence.

A laid-back dad-joke connoisseur.

Have you ever been in a life-or-death situation?

No, but I did once get swarmed by wasps.

It was a only sting operation.
What’s your favourite genre of music?

My taste in music is little bit weird. I listen to a lot of music and will often switch between EDM and Hip Hop, to Alt-Rock and Metalcore. I don’t really have a favourite genre, but I mostly go to see Rock Bands.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My mum makes a killer lasagne, so I’d probably have to pick that.

I don't recommend you eat killer lasagne, Matt.
What is at the top of your bucket list?

I’d love to buy a second-hand van and convert it into a camper in my garage, then go on a year-long road trip to every country in Europe (and maybe beyond). I think it’s important to see the world and experience different cultures whenever possible.

What hobby would you love to start?

I’ve been very into hiking for the last few years, but I’d love to get more into Mountaineering. There are some amazing summits in the alps I’d love to tackle!

If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would it be and why?

I would have to trade lives with Jeff Bezos, then I’d sell the right to Lord of the Rings to Peter Jackson for $1, and bank transfer myself a few million to keep me going. And as an added bonus I could learn how to evade tax!

That's interesting. Just pretend you didn't read that...
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Definitely Norway! Free healthcare, low crime rates, a world-leading education system and beautiful scenery? Yes please!

As we're talking about Norway, what cars do people in Norway drive?

Fjords...
If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

If I’m honest, I only really read Fantasy and Sci-Fi novels, so it’d probably have to be one of those.

Well, there you have it! We hope you've enjoyed getting to know Matt and his life outside of work. Be sure to tune in next time where we'll be heading back over to our customer care department!
