Inside the Life of a Digital Marketing Apprentice

It’s National Apprentice Week, and today, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate our apprentices and their hard work and dedication over the past year.

Inside the Life of a Digital Marketing Apprentice

Today, we’re kicking things off with an interview with one of PalletOnline’s digital marketing apprentices, Josh! We’ll be asking him all about his experience as an apprentice so far, and what advice he has for anyone considering a digital marketing apprenticeship.

We’re excited to hear what he has to say, so let’s dive right in!

What motivated you to start an apprenticeship?

I’ve wanted to start an apprenticeship ever since I left high school, as the thought of 2 years in college didn’t really appeal to me. After spending a year in sixth form, I decided to leave and pursue an apprenticeship role, as they’re much more “hands-on”, and you can earn while you learn!

What has been the most rewarding part of your apprenticeship?

The most rewarding part of my apprenticeship has definitely been seeing my progress over the last year. When comparing my old work to my work now, I love seeing the improvement in my writing, especially when it’s backed up by my manager.

What challenges have you faced so far?

With me being in such a creative role, I’d say one of the main challenges has been overcoming writer’s block. I’ve managed to get better at overcoming this now, though, by using any tools available to me to kickstart my writing.

How has your apprenticeship helped you develop professionally?

My apprenticeship has developed my professional skills in so many ways! From communication with my colleagues to punctuality and work ethic, my course has 100% made me into a more mature person.

What do you think are the most important qualities to have as an apprentice?

I think, as an apprentice, having the willingness to learn is probably one of the most important qualities to have. After all, you’re likely learning more than anyone else in your workplace. Being able to ask for help is also crucial, as it’s almost guaranteed you’ll come across something you’re unsure of.

What skills have you learned since starting with us?

The list is (nearly) endless! From interpersonal skills to teamwork and communication, I can honestly say I’ve learned it all at PalletOnline.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

It probably has to be the amount of support I get from both my training provider and my workplace. They’re always on hand to answer any questions, which is the best thing to have when you’re constantly learning.

What have been the biggest changes you have seen in Marketing since starting?

It’s quite recent, but I’d probably have to say the introduction of AI technology, specifically ChatGTP. In the few weeks, I’ve been trialling and testing it, and it looks like it could be a massive game changer for us all as it could save us a lot of time, allowing us to be more efficient in our marketing efforts. I can see AI revolutionising many industries in the very near future.

What do you think have been the most important lessons you have learned?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is probably the importance of hard work and dedication. Nobody is perfect at anything straight away, and taking the time to learn your trade is absolutely crucial for progress.

What advice would you give to someone just starting an apprenticeship?

Honestly, just be yourself, and do the very best you can. You’re not just an apprentice, you’re another valued member of the team, and your ideas will never go unnoticed.

We hope you enjoyed reading this interview with Josh and getting to know more about what it’s like to be a digital marketing apprentice. We’re so glad to have him on board and we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds! National Apprenticeship Week is a great time to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our apprentices, and we’re proud to be part of it.

Big thanks to Josh for taking the time to share his experience and encourage others considering an apprenticeship program to go for it!
